First Lyrics

“Hey,” He said, walking into the room with a big smile on his face. “I have something to tell you.”
“Yeah?” I asked, closing my laptop and putting it to the side, moving over and making more room for my boyfriend to sit down next to me on the couch.
“Okay, wait one second,” He said, putting up one finger and then running out of the room. He came back with his guitar in hand, beaming as he sat down beside me.
“What’s this all about?” I asked, and he shushed me with a smirk on his face.
He started to strum the guitar to a tune I’d never heard, and all of a sudden he was singing lyrics I didn’t know.
"You’re like everything I’ve ever wanted, falling in love isn’t hard when I’ve got you,” He sang to me, singing a song with beautiful words.
I wanted to cry sitting there listening to the song, knowing that the song was written just for me. When he finished, he put the guitar down and looked at me expectantly.
“That was beautiful,” I smiled, leaning over and hugging him. He kissed the top of my head and smiled proudly, but still looking a little shy like he always did.
“It’s a song I’ve been working on, and I wanted someone to hear it, so I thought you should hear it because it’s about you,” He explained, “Though you may be a little biased.”
“What do you mean?” I giggled.
“You’re kind of obligated to like it,” He smirked.
“I’m not obligated to like anything,” I grinned, kissing his cheek. “But I did absolutely love it and it’s my favourite song and everyone else is going to love it too.”
“Thought so,” He said as I stood up off of the couch.
“Don’t get cocky” I told him with a smile as I left the room.
