The Charming Old Town of Prague

Prague...
This is the highlight of my overall trip.

The trip to Prague, we started from Zob AM Funkturm, inter-city bus terminal between countries in the European Union. We use a Eurolines bus. Costs for commute by bus is relatively cheap, at only 21 euros, or about 310,000 rupiah (if 1 euro = 14,800 rupiah) from Vienna to Prague.

The bus service was not inferior to train or plane. The bus is very punctual. There are facilities toilet, free wifi, magazines, newspapers, supplied free drinks, etc.

I think for the price that much and with the complete facilities, I highly recommend using eurolines for your travelling around Europe. The journey from Vienna to Prague take about 4 hours (but for my experience, was not even up to 4 hours).

In fact, the actual travel time is less than 4 hours. It is great to avoid delays in resuming passenger next trip. We departed from Vienna around 6 pm and arrived in Prague about half past 10 at night.

When we just arrived in Zob AM Funkturm, we went to money changer and exchange our Euro to CZK, then we bought a 2 hours pass using metro to reach hotel.

Our hotel just in front of the exit station, so it is recommended for you to book a hotel that near to the station, city center or other landmark/mall. But if you take AirB&B, it will be more harder to find the house/apartment, so I suggest to contact (email or call) the host first before the day you arrived and ask for "how to get to their house/apartment"

The next day we started our adventure in the city center of Prague with first visited the Wenceslas Square. Prior to Wenceslas Square, we buy a one-day ticket costs 110 Kc or the equivalent of 4.4 euros (1 euro = 25 Kc).

Wenceslas Square

We used metro line A, and stop at Malostranska to reach Prague Castle. Prague Castle is the most historic monuments in the Czech Republic because it is where the King stay.

It is the largest ancient castle in the world (570 m long, on average 128 m wide, area 7.28 hectares).

Constructed in the 9th century by Prince Bořivoj, the castle transformed itself from a wooden fortress surrounded by earthen bulwarks to the imposing form it has today.

There are St. Vitus Cathedral, Lobkowicz Palace and Changing Guard Ceremonial in the gate. Since this place located in the hill, so it offers a great view of Prague city from above.

Prague from above was so stunning!!

We actually really want to explore to the inside of castle. But because we did not have enough time, eventually we immediately headed to the next destination, the Charles Bridge.

From Prague Castle to Charles Bridge we also simply walk away because it is quite close. Charles Bridge is very beautiful in my opinion, quite similar with a few Pont in Paris, cleaner instead.

One more thing that I salute from Prague's city, the city is very clean and orderly. I thought Prague is a kind of Paris, the pretty but dirty. My hunch turned out completely wrong, the town is very pretty and clean, the air was cool. The weather was very bright, lucky us.

We took a lot of photo in the middle of the Charles Bridge and if you look to the left of the bridge, there is Kafka Museum. This museum is dedicated to Franz Kafka, a famous writer born in Prague.

Unfortunately we were not able to visit Kafka Museum due to time constraints. But certainly, Kafka is very famous in Prague, his name is dedicated as a street name, the name of the museum, a restaurant, to the hotel.

In my opinion, it is very reasonable if a Kafka could write such beautiful way because he was stayed in a very beautiful city of Prague.

In the Charles Bridge, we can buy various souvenirs for many vendors who sell along the bridge, ranging from key chains to face painting.

There are also many art workers who play the violin, singing, playing the guitar. I think, crossing the Charles Bridge is my favorite activity when in Prague.

When beautiful architecture, art, music and good weather blended in one place..

After crossing the Charles Bridge we move toward the historical clock, clock which is said is the only one in the world and the sole architect of this clock were beheaded so that he could not create such beautiful clock elsewhere.

After the Historical Clock we moving towards Muzeum. This Muzeum is the old town of Prague city center, there are many outlets branded clothing here, other than that the place is also filled with cute cafes, and many young people of Prague to hang out here. Perhaps it could be called Muzeum outdoor mall because it is often used as a meeting point of the citizens of Prague.

We rested long enough in Muzeum, take some photos until then we decided to go hotel because scheduled our bus tickets is 17:30 PM

That's the story of my trip for one day in the City of Prague. Somewhat dissatisfied because there are many beautiful places that have not had time I visited while I was in Prague, but at least I've visited 4 places to visit while in Prague.

My impression of this city is the City of Prague is very pretty, very historical, people are more friendly than Paris, clean, and orderly.

Perhaps many people judge Paris is the most beautiful city in the world, but for me so far from all the cities I've visited, Prague is the most beautiful city in addition to Venice.

If you do not have much time, visiting Prague can be done in less than a day like I did and you will be amazed by the beauty of this city despite only being there for a day.
